Can a Syrian Hamster Live in a Bedroom?
Yes, if the bedroom is quiet, has a stable temperature and has room for a properly sized enclosure. But Syrian hamsters are active in the evening and at night, so their wheel and digging may disturb your sleep. A separate quiet room is often a better choice.

Start with space
A bedroom does not make a small cage suitable. Give your Syrian hamster an enclosure with at least 100 × 50 cm of continuous floor space, deep bedding for burrowing, hiding places and a large solid wheel that lets it run with a straight back. House a Syrian hamster alone.
Choose the right spot
Keep the enclosure away from direct sunlight, windows, draughts, radiators, speakers and televisions. Choose a calm position where the hamster can sleep undisturbed during the day.
Think about your own sleep
A hamster may dig, forage and run on its wheel while you are trying to sleep. A quiet wheel can help with noise, but the hamster still needs to be active at night. If that would regularly disturb you, place its enclosure in another suitable room rather than restricting its activity.
