Dwarf hamster — The night Milo disappeared

Our dwarf hamster, Milo, escaped one evening after I failed to close his enclosure properly. We shut the room door and spent ages searching, checking every corner twice. It was amazing how something so small could make two adults panic so much.

Then we heard scratching inside an empty cereal box beside the bookcase. Milo was sitting at the bottom, looking considerably calmer than we were. We replaced the faulty catch the next morning. That cereal box stayed in the family photographs.
